Whilst the bathroom may be where we go to clean ourselves up, the reality is that this can quickly become one of the dirtiest rooms in the home. It is not just the dirt that we clean off our bodies, but also the moisture and humidity that causes the growth of mold and leaves grime deposits on the toilet or in the bathtub. Very quickly we can start to see stains in the bathroom that are tough to get rid of. With these solutions you will be able to ensure that all areas of the bathroom remain shiny and clean.

Tools Required

Let’s start by looking at the tools you’ll need to take action in the bathroom. First you will need some gloves for hand protection, additionally you will need a sponge, a spray bottle and some melamine sponge. This is all you need to get that grime out of the shower or the tub.

 Materials You Will Need

There are some products that you are going to need in order to make the solution for cleaning. This includes baking soda, dry abrasive cleaner, white vinegar and some hydrogen peroxide. f you can then avoid using bleach as this is a corrosive substance and could easily cause damage to the materials in the bathroom.

 Bathtub

No matter whether you have a drop in or a freestanding bathtub, the key is the material that it is made of when you come to clean. If you have an acrylic tub then do not use abrasive cleaners as this will cause damage to the material. Most tubs are made from porcelain, and that is a much more hardy material. Most bathtub stains are yellow in color, that is an accumulation of human oils on the surface. To clean this you simply need to spray vinegar on and leave for 30 minutes before rinsing and wiping the surface,

Toilet

In the toilet we often see black stains that are sulfur bacteria, or blue/green stains that are as a result of the acidic water. In order to get rid of this we need to use a mixture of two parts baking soda with one part hydrogen peroxide, this will be perfect for getting rid of this kind of stain. The mixture forms a paste that needs to be applied to the surface of the toilet. Turn off the water and flush the toilet through until the bowl is empty. After you have done this, apply the paste and leave to sit for half an hour before rinsing.

Tiles

Grit and grime can very easily find its way onto the grout in-between the tiles in the bathroom, that is why you need to try and stay on top of it. Usually we see black stains here, or green colored mold, that again can be taken off with the paste mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, or with an abrasive cleaner. Use a toothbrush to get rid of the top layer and then add the paste on top of the grout. Leave again for 30 minutes before rinsing off.

This is certainly the best way to clean stubborn stains from your bathroom.
